Membership

You can support the Library through a Friends membership in many ways, including:

• Leadership Roles
  The Executive Committee is responsible for planning the year’s activities, raising money, and donating funds to the Library. Volunteer Coordinators organize each of the fundraising events. People with new ideas are always needed and are warmly welcomed.
• Friends of the Library Events 
  Members are needed to help at book sales and ongoing campaigns, and other activities and fundraisers as proposed by the Executive Committee.
• Library Programs
  Friends may assist at Tea and Books, the Library Book Club, Reading Buddies, delivering books to house-bound patrons and nursing homes, Babytime, children’s summer activities, special exhibits, and other programs as requested by the Chief Librarian.
• Phone Committee
  Phone captains call their list of members to inform them of upcoming events and to ask for volunteers to assist with Friends of the Library activities.
• Promotion
  Volunteers may be asked to put up event posters, deliver flyers to members, and help the Public Relations Chairperson when needed.

You choose the level of commitment with which you are most comfortable.

Our Friends always need more Friends.

New members are always welcome. Your membership in the Friends of the Library helps to build a stronger public library for our community.

Membership has its rewards. If you join the Friends of the Library:

• You will be invited to a Members’ Preview of the Better Book Sales, which gives you the opportunity by purchase books before the sales are open to the public.
• You will be invited to the Friends of the Library Annual General Meeting, which includes a special event.
• You will be part of a national group of supporters, Friends of Canadian Libraries.

Membership Dues

• One year memberships are $10.00 for an individual and $15.00 for a family.
• The Friends of the Library hold an annual membership drive in September and October. You may join the Friends at any time during the year, but your membership will be due again the next fall during the membership drive.
• Income tax receipts cannot be issued for membership fees.
• Membership brochures are available online or at either branch of the Library.
